Dextrose with Protein Solutions

The protein solution kept regularly in stock is Protein 30 g/L in D12.5W.  Use these recipes if you need to change the concentration of dextrose in the protein bag.

 

To make D7.5W with Protein

Withdraw 30 mL of Protein 30 g/L in D12.5W in a syringe

Add 20 mL of SWFI to that syringe

Total volume: 50 mL

Final concentration: Protein 18 g/L in D7.5W

Discard bag once punctured

Syringe expires 24 hrs after making

 

To make D10W with Protein

Withdraw 40 mL of Protein 30 g/L in D12.5W in a syringe

Add 10 mL of SWFI to that syringe

Total volume: 50 mL

Final concentration: Protein 24 g/L in D10W

Discard bag once punctured

Syringe expires 24 hours after making

 

To make D15W with Protein

Withdraw 46 mL of Protein 30 g/L in D12.5W in a syringe

Add 3.5 mL of D50W to that syringe

Total volume: 49.5 mL

Final concentration: Protein 27.9 g/L in D15W

For central line infusion only

Discard bag once punctured

Syringe expires 24 hours after making
 

To make D17.5W with Protein

Withdraw 44 mL of Protein 30 g/L in D12.5W in a syringe

Add 6.5 mL of D50W to that syringe

Total volume: 50.5 mL

Final concentration: Protein 26 g/L in D17.5W

For central line infusion only

Discard bag once punctured

Syringe expires 24 hours after making
