TO MAKE D10W and 0.45% NaCl [1 L]

Materials to be assembled

  • 1L bag of D5W and 0.45% NaCl
  • 3 x 50 mL syringes of D50W
  • 6 x 60 mL syringes for drug preparation

Procedure

  • Withdraw 112 mL from a 1 L bag of D5W and 0.45% NaCl
  • Add 112 mL of D50W
  • RESULTING SOLUTION: 1 L OF D10W and 0.4% NaCl
  • *Note that sodium concentration is slightly reduced
