Indications: 
  • Reverse narcotic induced depression, opioid intoxication
Administration: 
  • IV direct: over 3 - 5 minutes
  • IM/ETT in emergency
Dosage: 
  • Opioid intoxication: 0.1 - 0.2 mg/kg/dose; repeat Q2-3 minutes PRN
  • Opioid-induced depression: 0.01 - 0.02 mg/kg/dose; repeat Q2-3 minutes PRN
Side Effects: 
  • CVS: tachycardia, hypertension
  • Other: irritability

  • RR
  • Neurologic status
Compatibility: 

- Solutions Compatible: 0.9% NaCl, D5W

Incompatible: Do NOT mix with any other drugs

 

Notes: 
  • Contraindications: Acute abstinence syndrome in infants of opioid dependent mothers
